java-avm is an API for accessing drives and audio and video files.

java-avm currently works with Mac OS X 10.2.x, Microsoft Windows, and Linux on Intel x86. Support for Solaris and BSD is planned. On Linux, java-avm automatically detects the presense of ALSA, and uses the OSS API if ALSA is not found. On Windows and OSX, Quicktime for Java is enabled if detected. On OSX, the Java CoreAudio library and the MRJ library are loaded. Note that support is limited to Java 1.3.1 on Mac OS, because Quicktime is not available for Java 1.4 yet.
